Motion Detectors
A motion detector is a Passive Infra-Red (PIR) device that provides cost
effective trap protection for open areas. PIR devices are used in hallways,
entry ways and large rooms. PIR's can also provide object or back-up perimeter
protection.
PIR's stabilize to the infrared energy level in the protected
area. An intruder entering a protected area causes a rapid change in the
infrared energy level causing the sensor to activate the alarm circuit. PIR's
will not penetrate construction materials, including glass. Because the device
senses a change in heat, it should be placed away from sunlight, heaters,
heat-producing machines, fire places, air-conditioners, and other temperature
altering devices.
Dual Technology Detectors
Dual
technology detectors provide reliable, economical protection for areas that are
false alarm prone, thus building confidence in the detection system. Dual
technology detectors are used in areas where environmental conditions may create
false alarms for other detectors.
Dual technology detectors combine
passive infrared detection with microwave detection technologies. They are
designed to provide an alarm signal only if an intruder trips both types of
detection technologies. Dual technology sensors reduce that chance of false
alarms that are due to environmental conditions.
Pet Tolerant
Detectors
Pet motion detectors are designed much like the
detectors mentioned above, except that they allow pets, usually between 40 and
100 pounds to roam free without interfering with the system.
